MAY 15 - OCTOBER 25, 2015

Whether floral, animal, geometric or figurative, the patterns that grace the surface of fabrics give them personality. Like textile leitmotifs, they reappear over the centuries as the art of printing evolves, pacing fashion through their use on garments and accessories.

Leitmotifs looks at the most iconic patterns by presenting nearly 100 pieces from the museum’s collection alongside creations by several Québécois guest designers: Betina Lou, Coloré Design, Niapsou Design and Travis Taddeo. There will also be hundreds of neckties on display. Which one has your favourite pattern?

The World Press Photo travelling exhibition will take over Bonsecours Market from August 27 to September 28, 2014. After attracting 35,000 visitors in 2013, Montreal’s flagship cultural event of the fall season will add an additional week as well as Nocturnes, thereby allowing more people to enjoy the exhibition.

Often dubbed the Oscars of photojournalism, the World Press Photo is the most prestigious annual press photography contest on the planet. This year, 5,800 photographers from 130 countries submitted a total of 98,000 images. The 150 prize-winning photographs will be those showcased in Montreal.

Oxfam-Québec presents an exclusive exhibition of French photographer William Daniels’s work. Daniels traveled to Benin in early August to witness the impact of the organization firsthand, from a very personal, documentary vantage point. Montreal magazine NIGHTLIFE.CA will present visitors with a curated selection of photos looking back on the city’s vibrant cultural scene of the last few years. For its part, the RDI team will present a video compilation of major international events as seen through the eyes of its foreign correspondents.

Tickets and directions
The World Press Photo exhibition welcomes visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are available at the entrance of Bonsecours Market’s De la Commune Hall, located at 325 De la Commune East, mere minutes away from the Champ-de-Mars metro station.
